This document describes the use of cookies and tracking technologies on the site https://www.citationrate.com/, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the applicable national implementing legislation on cookies and tracking tools.

Art. 1 — What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that visited websites send to the user's browser, where they are stored and subsequently retransmitted to the same sites on the next visit. They make it possible to remember preferences, keep sessions active and collect statistical information.

Session cookies: active only during browsing, they are automatically deleted when the browser is closed. Persistent cookies: they remain on the device for a defined period, even after the browser is closed.

First-party cookies: set directly by the visited site. Third-party cookies: set by external domains, typically analytics, advertising or social media providers.

In addition to cookies, similar technologies may be used, such as HTML5 local storage, pixel tags, web beacons and browser fingerprinting, which operate in a similar manner to cookies.

Art. 2 — Types of cookies used

Preference cookies 7

Preference (or functional) cookies allow the site to remember choices made by the user — selected language, currency, geographic region, display settings — improving personalisation of the browsing experience. They require user consent before being set.

Analytics / statistical cookies 2

Analytics cookies collect anonymous or pseudonymous information on how visitors interact with the site: pages visited, session duration, navigation paths, traffic sources. Purely statistical cookies with full IP anonymisation and without sharing of raw data with the provider may be treated as technical cookies by some supervisory authorities; all others require consent.

Marketing / advertising cookies 12

Marketing cookies track visitors across multiple sites to show relevant, personalised adverts. They are almost always set by third-party advertising platforms and may be shared across different sites. User consent is always mandatory before activation.

Unclassified cookies 4

These cookies were detected by automated scanning but do not yet have an official classification. The site is currently analysing them. Until classified, these cookies are not activated without the user's explicit consent.

Art. 3 — Consent management

On first access to the site, an information banner is displayed that allows the user to express their preferences. The user can:

Consent given is revocable at any time via the "Manage cookie preferences" link in the site footer or via the floating icon (if enabled). Revocation does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before revocation.

Consent management is entrusted to CookieAegis, a GDPR-compliant Consent Management Platform. Collected consent is stored for 6 months, after which it will be requested again. Consent logs are archived for audit and documentation purposes (Art. 5(2) GDPR).

Art. 4 — Cookie declaration

Below is the complete and up-to-date list of cookies detected by automated scanning on 30 April 2026.

Note on logical provider: some cookies, although saved on this site's domain (first-party), are managed by third-party providers (Google, Meta, LinkedIn, etc.). In these cases, the data controller for the data collected via the cookie remains the third-party provider. The Provider column shows the entity that actually processes the data.
